The new Valco San Paolo student housing was born from the collaboration between the Lazio Region and the Department of Architecture of Roma Tre, which took charge of the design. The building stands in an area already affected by the presence of numerous university structures, as well as the Rossellini Technical Institute. Squeezed between these pre-existences and the straight line of Vicolo Savini, the building presents itself as a single, peremptory linear sign, 240 meters long and three floors above ground. The horizontality of the volume is taken as the founding characteristic of its external image, while inside the double heights and the numerous skylights recover the vertical dimension, flooding the entire building with light. Capable of hosting 200 students, in different and innovative typological solutions, the building also contains numerous collective spaces, services and two higher education schools.
