Urban Lightscape International Competition
“Landscapes of the contemporary city: light as an element of connection between past, present and future”
“Walks to create inspirational photographic material for the contest participants”
“The final evening of the Urban Lightscape contest”
The international competition for designers, architects and students “Urban Lightscape”, conceived by Fabertechnica, was presented in May 2015. The ideas competition aimed to collect and compare technical proposals for an artistic / architectural lighting of the Pentagon area of the EUR. The EUR district represents a very peculiar area, conceived for the Universal Exposition scheduled for 1942 and never inaugurated due to the war. Today it represents an open-air museum of 1930s architecture with a strong integration of new services and structures that define its potential role as the city’s “congress platform”. On the occasion of the competition, Fabertechnica took care of the organization of parallel promotional events, among which, noteworthy, there were two photographic walks that saw the participation of hundreds of enthusiasts with the aim of creating photographic material that could be an inspiration to the contest participants. For the occasion, other local organizations and web influencers were involved. The final evening of the Urban Lightscape competition was held on 30 October 2015 and took place in the main hall of the University of Roma Tre
Within the spaces of the PLDC (held in Rome in the same year), an Urban Lightscape themed Experience Room was also set up, designed by the designers of Fabertechnica.
